UK Sponsorship Awards Unveils Two New Dedicated Football Sponsorship Awards for 2018

The 2018 edition of the UK Sponsorship Awards (UKSA) will include two new categories dedicated to Football Sponsorship.

The two categories will be Best Domestic Football Sponsorship and Best International Football Sponsorship, said UKSA organiser Rosemary Sarginson: “The Domestic Category is all about sponsorships that are targeted at a UK audience, so that can be anything to do with clubs, leagues or cup competitions for example. International is about sponsorships that target a multi-territory audience. This might cover UEFA and FIFA events as well as activities around national teams. But equally it could be a Premier League club with a global brand partner.”

Some sponsorships (Premier League Club and National Team partnerships, for example) have Domestic and International components, observed Sarginson, “and these can be entered in both categories. But entries will need to be written differently to show how they have achieved domestic or international goals.”

Any kind of football sponsorship can be entered regardless of sponsorship designation (i.e, title sponsor, category partner), industrial category or focal point (i.e, grassroots, naming rights, media activation or endorsement). Entrants into this category are, of course, also free to enter any other category – including sport and grassroots sport. “Football is by far the biggest area of activity within the sponsorship business and the number of brands engaged in this arena runs into the hundreds,” said Sarginson, “so we have decided to introduce these Awards to reflect the creativity and innovation that this represents.”

In addition to this year’s new developments, all of the usual popular categories will be up for grabs and there will be a newly-expanded media section. Further announcements will also be made in the coming weeks about other innovations. Details on deadlines and how to enter can be found on the Awards website. This year, the Early Bird deadline is December 18th 2017. The Final Deadline is January 15th 2018. The event itself is on March 27th 2018 at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square.

Categories

Best Domestic Football Sponsorship

The Domestic Category is all about football sponsorships targeted at a UK audience (or a part of the UK audience), so that can be anything to do with clubs (from elite to amateur), leagues or cup competitions for example. Any kind of football sponsorship can be entered regardless of sponsorship designation (eg title sponsor, category partner), industrial category or focal point (eg grassroots, naming rights, media activation or endorsement). Sponsorships (eg Premier League Club and National Team partnerships) with Domestic and International components can be entered in both football categories. But entries will need to be written differently to show how they have achieved domestic or international goals. The UKSA team reserves the right to split this category in two by budget if there are sufficient entries to justify this.

Best International Football Sponsorship

The International Category is about sponsorships that target a multi-territory audience. This might cover UEFA and FIFA events as well as activities around national teams. But equally it could be a Premier League club with a global brand partner. As with Domestic, any kind of football sponsorship can be entered regardless of sponsorship designation (eg title sponsor, category partner), industrial category or focal point (eg grassroots, naming rights, media activation or endorsement).

Sponsorships (eg Premier League Club and National Team partnerships) with Domestic and International components can enter both categories, but will need to be written differently to show how they have achieved domestic or international goals. The UKSA team reserves the right to split this category in two by budget if there are sufficient entries to justify this.
