TSC Legal Boosts Senior Team With Three Appointments

TSC Legal, the law firm affiliated to specialist sports and events agency The Sports Consultancy, has appointed David Becker and Tim Jones as Consultant Partners, together with the appointment of Rob Jones as Associate, as the business builds momentum following its launch just under a year ago.

Former Head of Legal at the International Cricket Council, Becker re-joins the business following a sabbatical in 2017 during which time he worked on South Africa’s Rugby World Cup bid for the 2023 World Cup.  His experience in governance and investigations, having led key projects for the International Cricket Council, British Triathlon and Cricket South Africa, will be key to building on the success of the recently-launched Global Sports Investigations business.

Tim Jones is one of the most experienced sports lawyers in the business having served at Freshfields for over three decades, 23 years of which as a partner in the corporate group and five years as London chairman.  He led Freshfields' involvement in London 2012, advised the bid team and was a key player in the design of the overall governance structure, the relationship between ODA and LOCOG and the terms of the LOCOG stakeholders' agreement.

More recently Tim was General Counsel and a member of the executive team for the organising committee of the England 2015 Rugby World Cup where he was responsible for the governance structure and oversight of the commercial programme.

Rob Jones joins from London firm Clintons, having also trained in the specialist sport & entertainment group of international firm Squire Patton Boggs.

Commenting on the appointments, Ashley Blake, Partner, TSC Legal said: “We are delighted to add these two exceptional talents in sports regulatory, governance, corporate and commercial to our team at a time when our business is growing rapidly and the benefits of creating our standalone legal practice alongside the wider business of The Sports Consultancy are being realised. David and Tim bring complementary expertise to our existing senior offering of Andy Korman’s sponsorship, brand and sports marketing expertise and my practice of commercial rights and major event work.

Our independent Global Sports Investigations service positions us at the forefront of advisors offering specialist governance support to the sports business and these appointments will undoubtably support this.
