State-of-the-art Fan Engagement Technology Installed At Twickenham Stadium

In-stadia digital media rights holder, Sports Revolution, has agreed a partnership with the Rugby Football Union (RFU). The relationship sees Sports Revolution providing state-of-the-art communication technology to Twickenham Stadium, and acting as exclusive partner for in-stadia advertising.

Twickenham Stadium has been fitted with an new LED fan engagement and advertising system, stretching 1 kilometre around the bowl at both pitch side and middle tier. The mid-tier LED ribbon – the first installation of its kind at a sports stadium in Europe – is designed to boost interaction and engagement with the crowd, relaying messages and encouraging support during breaks in play.

At pitch-side, Sports Revolution has replaced and re-configured the LED advertising boards, installing taller and higher definition units. The new technology is currently debuting at the QBE Internationals  between England, Fiji, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand at Twickenham Stadium.

Vange Kourentis , Group Commercial Director, Sports Revolution, says: “We are thrilled to be part of these  exciting changes to Twickenham Stadium and to partner with the RFU. This is an important development in ensuring that fans are kept at the heart of the game.  We believe that understanding the fan and improving the match-day experience is key to building successful partnerships between rights holders, sponsors and fans.”

Sophie Goldschmidt, RFU Chief Commercial Officer said: “Our work with Sports Revolution is the first stage in establishing Twickenham Stadium as one of the most digitally advanced rugby grounds in Europe. We choose our partners carefully and look for those who offer insight and understanding of what we can do to continually improve the fan’s overall experience. The new LED system has been well received during the first two QBE Internationals and we look forward to implementing the next phase to ensure Twickenham’ s long standing status as a cutting edge stadium.”
