RFU and Continental Tyres kick off long-term partnership

Continental Tyres has become the Rugby Football Union (RFU), England men and Red Roses’ Official Partner and title sponsor of the Continental Tyres Schools Cup in a multi-year partnership.

The partnership will focus on performance and safety on and off the pitch, through the RFU’s involvement with schools and other opportunities for both boys and girls to play.

Outside Twickenham Stadium on match days there will be more than 1,000 stewards kitted out in Continental branded uniforms, on hand to help guide and direct fans on match days, including from the newly rebranded Continental Tyres Rosebine Car Park. Continental branded stewards will also be working hard to keep fans safe when inside the stadium too, where Continental branding will run along the perimeter advertising screens, as well as on television screens around the concourse, entrance, and team areas, and the big screen.

The partnership will also see Continental support England rugby fans’ journeys from local to international fixtures, helping them support both the England men’s and Red Roses’ squads throughout major stages in their respective competitions.

As excitement builds around England men’s team heading to France later this year, Continental and the RFU will work together to focus on accelerating the growth of the game through school-linked activity.

Steve Grainger, RFU Executive Director of Rugby Development, said: “The Continental Tyres Schools Cup is an important part of the age-grade rugby competition landscape and support from Continental Tyres to enhance this over time is significant. In addition, they will work with us on our broader rugby activity in schools for both boys and girls.”

Tarik Gorgun, Managing Director for Continental Tyres, said: “This is the latest high-profile partnership in our long history of involvement in both male and female sport, from grassroots to the very highest level.

“As official partners of the England Lionesses at the Euros last year and through our associated Grip the Nation campaign, we’ve championed the message that sport is for everyone, while keeping safety and performance at the heart of everything we do. We look forward to building on this across our work with the RFU.

“Whilst everyone enjoys the fast-paced action of a rugby game and the high level of performance demonstrated by the players, it’s important this goes hand-in-hand with the safety of all involved, both on and off the pitch."
