SPONSORSPARTNERS
The Nottingham, a mutual building society with branches in nine counties across the Midlands, has signed as Local Event Partner to the Aegon Open Nottingham tournaments for 2015. The partnership will bolster local engagement with the WTA women’s and ATP men’s tournaments through The Nottingham’s extensive reach to communities across the East Midlands and beyond. In the run-up to the tournament a series of events across the region will aim to get more people playing tennis more often and will be delivered in partnership with The Nottingham.
The Aegon Open Nottingham will see two tournaments take place in June, the women’s WTA event taking place from 8-14 June 2015, and the men’s ATP event being staged from 22-27 June 2015. Both tournaments will be an integral part of the new British grass court season, which in 2015 will see a three week window between Roland Garros and The Championships, Wimbledon for the very first time. The extended grass court season will enable some of the world’s best players extra time to find their feet on grass and make the most of the best grass-courts in the country.
Michael Downey, the LTA’s Chief Executive commented on the announcement: “The Nottingham is a strong local business with a great history of supporting sport in the city. Their fantastic links to the local community will provide great backing in delivering our world-class tennis tournaments this summer.”
Adding his thoughts, The Nottingham’s Chief Executive David Marlow said: “We are really looking forward to supporting the event, which further builds on our strong community and sport links, such as our partnership with Nottingham Forest Football Club and the backing of many local SportsAid athletes across our heartland. Over the coming weeks we are going to be offering customers and staff some great deals to encourage them to go along and support the Aegon Open Nottingham and also become more involved generally in practising and playing tennis.”
The tournaments have a total prize money pot of over US$1million, and will make up British Tennis’ season of summer grass-court tournaments that includes, the Aegon Championships at The Queen’s Club, the Aegon International Eastbourne, and the Aegon Classic Birmingham.
