New recruits reflect Glasgow-based Material's post-pandemic rebound

Glasgow-based creative marketing agency Material has welcomed a string of new appointments building on its expertise in digital design, sponsorship and partnerships, experiential and sustainability.

Colin Banks, previously OVO Energy’s Head of Sponsorships & Partnerships, will work with the agency to offer experienced rights and partnerships consultancy. Meanwhile, Andy Brown returns to the team to assume a new role as Head of Digital Design having joined from Trespass.

Caitlin Cummings-Duffy has joined as Account Director, bringing luxury drinks and hospitality experience,  live event specialist Yvonne Morrison has joined been appointed Senior Account Manager and Josh Shek has secured an Account Executive role following a successful internship thanks to a link-up with the University of Strathclyde.

The appointments are reflective of the agency’s rebound post-Covid says its managing director Alasdair Wallace. Cancelled events in 2020 had a severe impact on trading, but high profile projects for COP26, EURO 2020, Tennent’s Lager and DF Concerts and Events amongst others, helped to see turnover for 2021 exceed pre-pandemic levels.

Wallace said: “It’s been a busy start to the year for the business with new faces being added to strengthen our client offering and we’re confident this new influx of talent can help us to build on what was a challenging but rewarding 2021.”

Material - renowned for compelling work with brands and rights holders in sport, music, entertainment and culture - recently enjoyed success at the UK Sponsorship Awards winning best Branded Content for its work with Tennent’s Lager in football.

The company, which celebrated its 18th birthday last year, is also up for awards at this year’s Marketing Society Scotland Star Awards - including Champions of Climate Change - and recently celebrated four nominations at the Scottish Design Awards, as well as further nominations for this year’s Drum Awards.
