The Space Between is a collaboration between former ENGINE Sport leaders Tom Gladstone and Lisa Parfitt and former Managing Director of Pitch Marketing Group Adam Raincock. The sports and entertainment marketing agency aims to blend the consistency of a core team with the power of a collective and launches with clients including Vitality, Mitsubishi Motors and Principality Building Society.
The agency name is inspired by Viktor Frankl, an Austrian neurologist, psychologist and Holocaust survivor, who said that ‘Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.’ The philosophy echoes the co-founders outlook on the role of marketing and has inspired them to challenge the agency conventions.
The structure of the agency will allow it to shift and adapt its teams, meaning clients get the people and skills they need. The team believes this model will suit the significantly more varied and challenging needs of brands, rights holders and sponsors in the COVID era.
Having grown their early careers at sports consulting, rights holders and comms agencies, Tom, Lisa and Adam’s paths first crossed at the sports marketing and sponsorship agency Synergy where they formed the core of the management team. The trio then forged separate paths overseeing periods of significant growth and success at Pitch Marketing Group and ENGINE Sport working with clients including Beats by Dre, Santander, Hyundai and the ECB before making the decision to form an agency with their own vision.
