SPONSORSPARTNERS
James Robinson has joined the management board of Limelight Sports as Group Commercial Director. He has over 23 years experience in the participation sports sector and has headed up organisations in both the rights holder and agency sectors and has been responsible for over 200 international events across triathlon, cycling, running and open water swimming.
Robinson spent ten years in various commercial roles at The Great Run Company before relocating to Germany in 2008 to join Lagardère Sports. In his three years as International Director for Marketing and Sales, Robinson was responsible for the commercialisation and marketing of the World Triathlon Series bringing in global partners for the new ITU World Championship Series. He then spent five years at WME-IMG as Managing Director, Mass Participation Sports delivering significant growth to the business. In this role, he oversaw over 30 annual international events and was responsible for the creation and implementation of the agency’s strategy for mass participation sports. For the past 18 months Robinson has been a consultant with several brands and agencies involved in the mass participation sports arena.
The appointment is another step in the development of Limelight Sports which last autumn received an investment boost from DCT Ventures, the investment arm of leading media owner DC Thomson. In February Limelight announced two appointments when Rick Jenner was appointed Strategy and Insights Director and Ian Scoffield joined as Group Financial Officer.
Limelight Sports CEO, Craig Dews commented: “James has excellent credentials in our business and will bring the enthusiasm and drive which will enable us to develop more relationships with leading companies. It is an extremely exciting time for participation sport as an increasing number of major brands look to take advantage of the new opportunities, specifically involving digital applications, that are developing and enabling us to create an Active World”.
