SPONSORSPARTNERS
Lebara Mobile, provider of low-cost international mobile services from the UK, has become an official partner of London Irish Rugby Club and will appear on the first team playing shorts. The deal was negotiated by Lebara’s sponsorship agency Essentially.
The company, founded in 2001 as part of the Lebara Group, was ranked as the UK’s fourth fastest-growing private company in the Sunday Times ‘Fast Track 100 Listing’ in 2006, was voted Best Newcomer at the Mobile Industry Awards in 2008, and was recently recognised as delivering the Most Innovative Service at the 2009 Mobile News Awards.
Lebara already has a successful track record in high-profile sports sponsorship. In May this year it became the official mobile partner to the nine cricket Test Match Grounds in England and Wales and in March sponsored YouTube’s live coverage of the Indian Premier League (IPL). In January, Lebara Mobile was the broadcast partner for Eurosport’s coverage of the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
Richard Marsh, Commercial Director at London Irish said: “We are delighted to welcome Lebara Mobile on board. We believe that both London Irish and Lebara will be able to drive significant opportunities via our respective international supporter and customer bases.”
Russell Atkinson from Lebara Mobile added: “As our business continues to expand rapidly and successfully we believe that an association with a team known as the Exiles fits perfectly with our strategy to increase our brand awareness within international communities even further.”
