Investec Bows Out Of England Rugby After Twelve Years

England’s fixture against Wales at Twickenham Stadium on August 6th will marks the end of 12 years of Investec sponsorship of English rugby.  Commenting on the sponsorship, Raymond van Niekerk, Investec’s Head of Global Marketing said: “The Investec brand was almost unknown in the UK before that first match against the ‘Boks in 1998. Our sponsorship of the Autumn Internationals really helped establish us in the UK and it also helped the Investec brand in Australia and South Africa.

Investec today is a financially strong FTSE100 company with assets under management of over £89bn. The association with England Rugby has been an important part of our brand building over the last twelve years and it has been a great success for us.”

The Investec International between England and Wales will be the 35th England fixture that Investec has sponsored.

England Team Manager, Martin Johnson, said:  “On behalf of the England team I’d like to thank Investec for backing English rugby over the last 12 years. Their consistency of investment has helped England have the right facilities and environment to develop as a team. The final Investec International against Wales at Twickenham on 6 August will be a very important step for us towards the World Cup.”

Paul Vaughan, Business Operations Director of the RFU added: “Investec’s support over the past 12 years has enabled the RFU to invest in all levels of the game from grassroots to the elite over a number of years. They have been an outstanding partner that always looked for a creative way to sponsor England’s Autumn Internationals.”
