Cutty Sark Sets Sail With Centre For The Moving Image

Cutty Sark Blended Scotch Whisky and Centre for the Moving Image (CMI) have launched a new partnership including significant investment in the Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF). The partnership will include a number of cinematic ventures during EIFF in June including outdoor pedal powered screenings, as well as wider cultural and commercial initiatives to support emerging talent including a filmmaker’s competition.

As part of this partnership, Cutty Sark will launch a competition to challenge emerging filmmakers to create short films. The theme will be announced during the festival in June, and there will be ongoing year-round activities to aid these filmmakers with their professional development. Winners of the competition will have the opportunity to publicly screen their work as part of the 2012 EIFF programme.

Gavin Miller, CEO for the Centre for Moving Image commented:  “The CMI was set up with the aim to inspire, educate and lead in the moving image industry and it’s great to welcome Cutty Sark on board to support us with this. Giving opportunities to emerging filmmakers to showcase their work is a fantastic step in building the skills of a new generation of producers, directors and screenwriters.”

Jason Craig, Global Brand Controller, Cutty Sark Blended Scotch Whisky, stated: “With their vision to re-invent film festivals we are delighted to be partnering with such a pioneering and forward thinking organisation as the Edinburgh International Film Festival.
