SPONSORSPARTNERS
News and business specialist Bloomberg is set to help fund a lasting legacy of innovative East London artistic projects by joining forces with The Legacy List as a founding corporate partner.
Among the first schemes to benefit from the Bloomberg’s support is a series of artist-led programmes to animate the waterways in East London. These are a Floating Cinema to be ready for the summer of 2013 as well as a number of public artworks curated by Cedar Lewisohn for major walls along the River Lea which runs through the future Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. These will be delivered in partnership with the Canal & River Trust which manages the waterways in East London.
A representative from Bloomberg is quoted as saying: “We are delighted to be The Legacy List’s founding corporate partner. Bloomberg LP's Philanthropy program reflects the company's core business - to connect people and communities to a dynamic network of information, opportunities and ideas. The Legacy List has already developed a reputation for innovation in project development and, as we are expanding our commitment to artistic excellence and audience engagement in 2012, this partnership with The Legacy List allows us to look beyond the Olympic period and to focus on creating stronger and more sustainable communities for the future. We look forward to working with The Legacy List over the coming months and seeing a range of projects come to fruition in east London. ”
Sarah Weir, Chief Executive of The Legacy List added: “It is a major coup for The Legacy List to have such a prestigious founding corporate partner and we look forward to working with them immensely. We are extremely pleased that Bloomberg have recognised the innovative steps the charity has taken in a relatively short space of time and this is an ideal way to celebrate our first birthday.
“The Floating Cinema and The Canals Project are just two examples of our commitment to ensure an imaginative cultural legacy from London 2012, adding to the existing artistic vibrancy of East London.”
The Legacy List is a charity registered in 2011. Its founding members were the Mayor of London’s Office and the Olympic Park Legacy Company, now the London Legacy Development Corporation (Development Corporation). Its mission is to actively engage people in the transformation of the Park by finding and funding a range of places, programmes and partnerships in the areas of arts, culture, education and skills.
