SPONSORSPARTNERS
AEG Global Partnerships has defied the global crisis and business planning hiatus by brokering a landmark deal with Uber and Thames Clippers. Later this summer, the River Bus service will be rebranded as Uber Boat by Thames Clippers.
The five year deal, which embodies the importance of sponsorship within the marketing mix, is a strategic move for Uber to expand its platform within the transportation sector and widen its customer base. The partnership also enables Thames Clippers to accelerate its plans to encourage more people to travel by boat around the city and supports the ongoing expansion of the river network across London via Uber’s advanced technology platform.
AEG Global Partnerships has recently also negotiated the headline sponsorship of American Express presents BST Hyde Park, the music festival attended by more than 450,000 people each year. They also renewed the O2 deal for a further 10 year naming rights deal of The O2, the world’s most popular music and entertainment venue, which was voted the best sponsorship of the last 25 years.
Paul Samuels, Executive Vice President AEG Europe Global Partnerships, commented: “We are proud to have been able to broker the sponsorship, between Thames Clippers and Uber, at this pivotal stage as London starts to reopen. Uber is an immensely exciting and forward thinking brand and will put technology at the heart of this ground breaking partnership with Thames Clippers.”
Commenting on the partnership, Jamie Heywood, Regional General Manager for Northern and Eastern Europe, Uber, said: “Londoners are looking for new ways to travel around the city, particularly when they start commuting back to work. Later this summer we will launch the Uber Boat by Thames Clippers partnership in London as a means for people to travel into the City by water, which will be fully integrated through the Uber app.”
Thames Clippers co-founder and CEO,Sean Collins said: “In our 22nd year of operation it is key that we continue to support London and its commuters with the ease of lockdown and return to work. The new partnership sees Thames Clippers and Uber, who both pride themselves on safety, reliability and comfort, come together. It will allow us to link the two travel modes of river and road, providing Londoners and visitors with even more options to commute, visit, explore and enjoy our city by river. Watch this space; the partnership will support the ongoing expansion of our network, opening up more of London to fast, reliable journeys by water."
